Nescafe Hollyoaks Idents were an incredible journey of silliness and faith in a great creative idea. We sold the idea of using Barbie Dolls to pastiche Hollyoaks to Phil Redman at Channel 4, we’ll never know quite how but thanks to a brilliant Account Handler, Holly Maguire and Producer Nick Godden. We wrote and produced over sixty stop frame animation TV idents. We cried with laughter for a whole week during the VO sessions with one of the funniest men on earth – Gary (the sound mix artist at 750 mph) and the world ceased to be serious and somehow our scripts seemed very funny.

Achievements

At £9.5 million this was Channel Four’s biggest sponsorship deal ever at that time. The idents were Campaign of The Month in various marketing magazines and their cheeky one-liners created a deluge of discussion on early social media forums. We still get contacted to help settle a debate between friends about an ident featuring a banana.
